Currently I am using 2 of the 5 Bay Drobo devices in a Corporate environment for backing up important corporate data. Since you cancreate Raid 1 and Raid 5 Arrays I simply created a Raid 1 (basically 2 drives that have the same information) array and backed my data up to it. I then break the arrar and keep one disk on site and ship one disk to a special storage facility. Not counting the original cost of the Drobo device which is very minimal it cost me less than $4,000.00 of hard drive per year to secure all the corporate data of a large corporation for one year.  The comercial equivilant would cost approx. $41,000.00 to implement the same stragety. Not bad for a Low cost alternative technology.  For the SOHO user I would recommend purchasing the least expensive Drobo model and putting a quantity of 2 Drives in the unit. Each drive would be 2TB. The device would automatically configure the RAID 1 array for you and you just copy your data to it. Great security for less than anything you can get in the comercial marketplace.
